Sitofilus gramarius
Sitofilus gramarius
A large of rice weevil - a length of 4.1 mm.
Body color varies from brown to sparkling black.
There is only one pair of wings and so the beetle can not fly.
The larva of the bugs pass through the groove from one side of the grain to the other.
This is why there very often there can be more than one larva inside a single grain.
In order to complete its development a larva eats 40% of the dry matter of the grain.
The lower temperature threshold of development is 100 C.
Under favorable temperature beetles live up to one year.
The optimum temperature for development of the Sitofilus gramarius is 26-30 C and a relative humidity of 70%.
In moisture below 11%, the bugs can not evolve.
