Sitophilus oryzae

 

The most common type seen in warehouses and storage facilities. The size of the beetle depends on the size of the grain in which the larvae has grown. Beetles can fly. The larva makes a move parallel to the stria grain.

When close to the surface of the beans or grains, there are noticeable bright stripes.

During the development, the rice weevil destroyed about 25% of dry matter.

Under optimum conditions / 27-31 C / one female lays about 10 eggs in one day.

Except in the grain of wheat and maize, rice weevil also develops in macaroni and spaghetti.

In flour and bran it can eat, but can not complete its development.
